Government New College at Ambikapur in Chhattisgarh hosts skill education camp

Adani Enterprises recently organized a workshop on “Skill Education and Industrial Revolution” at the Government New College in Lakhanpur, Sarguja district.

The event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of 180 individuals, including students from the science, arts, and commerce faculties, along with faculty members and the principal. The primary objective of this workshop was to familiarize young college students with the opportunities arising from industrial development in the region, including employment and self-employment prospects.

The workshop featured presentations and short films aimed at educating students about the goals of skill development, aspirations, and the diverse employment and entrepreneurial opportunities emerging from industries. Students actively engaged in discussions with senior officials present at the event, raising questions and gaining insights about the direct and indirect employment opportunities generated by local industrial projects. They also learned about the developmental activities initiated due to industrial presence, which were met with keen interest and participation.

On this occasion, Principal Dr. Shrivastava emphasized the importance of industries in promoting policies of skill, proficiency, and self-employment under the new education system. Meanwhile, Mr. Ram Dwivedi, Cluster HR Head of Adani Enterprises Limited, provided detailed information about the developmental activities carried out by the Adani Group in the region and invited students for educational visits to beneficiary villages to gain firsthand experience.

The workshop was attended by the college principal, Dr S K Shrivastava; Assistant Professors D P Sahu, Anupam Ashish, Dilip Kumar Paikra, Ms. Bindurani Singh, and Ms. Premlata Singh; as well as Amit Roy from the Adani Foundation.

Notably, under the CSR initiatives of Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited’s five-star award-winning Parasa East-Kete Basen Coal Mine, Adani Foundation conducts various programs in 14 villages of Udaipur Block, Sarguja district. These programs focus on education, healthcare, livelihood enhancement, and infrastructure development. The foundation runs skill development centers in Salhi, offering courses like electrician training and tailoring, which have successfully provided over 350 trainees with job opportunities and avenues for self-employment. Additionally, the foundation has planted over 1.4 million trees in the area to create a new forest, contributing to biodiversity conservation, with ongoing afforestation efforts.
