New Delhi, December 12
The Central government on Monday notified the appointment of two additional judges of the Chhattisgarh High Court, Justices Narendra Kumar Vyas and Naresh Kumar Chandravanshi as permanent judges.
A notification to this effect was published by the Law Ministry’s Department of Justice. The notification said, “In exercise of the power conferred by clause (l) of Article 217 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint S/Shri Justices (i) Narendra Kumar Vyas and (ii) Naresh Kumar Chandravanshi, Additional Judges of the Chhattisgarh High Court as Judges of that High Court with effect from the date they assume charge of their respective office.”
The appointment was made pursuant to a recommendation made by the Supreme Court collegium on November 24.
As on November 1, 2022, the Chhattisgarh High Court, which has a sanctioned strength of 22 judges, is functioning with 14 judges, a vacancy position of 8.
