In a joint operation led by elite Greyhounds of Telangana police, six Maoists were killed in an exchange of fire at the Telangana- Chhattisgarh border area on Monday.
Bastar Inspector General of Police Sunderraj P said the operation was designed based on the intelligence inputs about the presence of 40-50 Maoists in the Sukma area under Kistaram police station limit in the border area of Telangana and Chattisgarh.
The Greyhounds were assisted by the Chhattisgarh police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in the joint operation. The fierce encounter took place around 6.30 am to 7 am, the police officials said.
Sunil Dutt, Bhadradri Kothagudem (Telangana) District Superintendent of Police, said six Maoists were killed in the encounter.
