On the eve of Teachers’ Day, Indore’s Choithram School had set a precedent and announced to exempt the fee of students for the academic session 2020-21 till the institution reopens.
The trust managing the school made the announcement on Friday, a day before Teachers’ Day. The Covid-19 pandemic had been cited as the reason to give respite to the parents besides setting an example for other educational institutions.
Principal of Choithram School Dhar road Priti Dixit told a local newspaper that the motive of the school management was not to make money but to bestow relief to the parents and students.
Established in 1972, the school has 1,750 students in all including students from nursery to grade 12.
“Every child deserves a chance to study and in such difficult times, it is our prime duty to give them the chance, which we are doing via online classes, worksheets and evaluations,” Priti said.
She added that the school has a staff of 85 people including teachers. “The trust is taking care of salary, which is ideal and workable,” Priti said.
The school authorities are also providing counselling services to the parents, who are facing tough times due to the pandemic. The management is providing new admissions for a token money of just Rs 250.
The amount collected is to confirm the admission and the ward need not have to pay any other fee for the year.
