HACK-A-SOL 2.0 concludes at IIIT-Naya Raipur

The International Institute of Information Technology, Naya Raipur (IIIT- NR), concluded HACK-A-SOL 2.0, the second iteration of its largest Pan-India hackathon competition.

HACK-A-SOL was initiated as an attempt to encourage collaborative development in order to create technologies that solve problems of the future, while testing coding skills in a highly competitive and exhaustive environment.

The hackathon comprised a 7-day hacking phase, started from December 15and concluded on December 21, followed by talk sessions. The event saw 580 and more registrations, out of which 100 participants were selected for the hacking phase. The event had a total prize pool of more than Rs. 1.4 lakh, out of which Rs. 75000/- were awarded in the form of cash prizes. The problem statements focused primarily on Healthcare, Agriculture, and Blockchain. 

In his inaugural address Dr. Pradeep Kumar Sinha, Director, IIIT-NR, shared his views on the role of hackathons in addressing social problems. He talked about what makes a solution work and stand out. He ended his speech by sharing his views on the role of HACK-A-SOL 2.0 in creating a culture of working in teams and building solutions.

The team ‘Access Denied’, from Thadomal Shahani Engineering College, came up with the best solution ‘Farm-A-Future: A Decentralized Application for Strengthening the Agricultural Sector, using Block Chain’ and was awarded the first prize of Rs. 35000/-.

Team ‘Sudocoders’ from Atal Bihari Vajpayee Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management, Gwalior, ranked second with their problem addressing ‘EVIAN: A Portal for Electric Vehicles, Allowing Users to Book their Slots Across Charging Stations, Reducing Wastage of Time Due to Queues’, and was awarded a cash prize of Rs. 25000/-.

Team ‘Runtime_Terror’ from Delhi Technological University, ranked third with their problem addressing ‘ELIXIR: A Block Chain-based-stop Platform for Medical-system, Focusing on Transparency in Availability of Resources in Hospitals’ and was awarded a cash prize of Rs. 15000/-.

Hack-a-Sol was made possible by the Student Activity Centre under the guidance of the Faculty in-charge Dr. Venkanna U. The event was led by student coordinators of IIIT-NR clubs ‘The Society of Coders’ and ‘Tech4gud’. 

The final day of the event saw the talk session by esteemed personality, Dr. Munish Jindal, Founder & CE0 of HoverRobotix, who emphasized the role of hackathons in innovation, and in developing the right mindset for start-ups.

The second talk of the event was by Dr. Ashish Manchanda, Director, Finder India Pvt Ltd, and Treasurer, ISA Delhi Section, who shared his expertise about Industry 4.0 and the upcoming importance of AI and ML in the industrial aspect.
