After the truce agreement, Hamas on Friday evening released 24 hostages who they took captive after deadly attack in Israeli territory on October 7, 2023.
Qatar Foreign Ministry spokesperson Majed al-Ansari tweets, “We confirm that the Red Cross has received 24 civilians detained in the Gaza Strip, including a number of civilian women and children within the framework of the humanitarian truce agreement. It added that 39 women and children detained in Israeli prisons were also released in implementation of the commitments of the first day of the agreement.
Israeli that has launched a full-scale offence in Gaza to reportedly eradicate Hamas has agreed for a four-day cease-fire. Under the deal, which was mediated by Qatar and the US, Hamas would release 50 Israeli women and children it took hostage on October 7. In exchange for a lull in the fighting during the four days, 150 Palestinian prisoners held by Israel for terror offenses, all of them women or minors, will be released.
“A number of Thai citizens have also been released outside the framework of the truce agreement and they are currently on their way out of the Strip with the Red Cross,” the spokesperson added. Thailand confirmed that the 24 hostages released included its 12 citizens. Of the 13 Israeli hostages released, some have dual citizens.
