Hardik Patel three-year stint with the Congress party has finally come to an end with the Patidar leader resigning from the grand old party today.
The power corridor is whispering to know the next move of Hardik Patel. The political pundits analysing the development said Patel’s choice of words in his resignation letter gave an overt signal that he would be heading towards the BJP or at least wants to stake claim to that ideological space.
In his lengthy letter to the Congress President, Patel said: “The party has constantly been working against the interests of my country and our society.” The sentence further clears the doubts.
“Be it the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, revocation of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir, implementation of GST-India wanted solutions for these subjects for a long time and Congress only played the role of a roadblock and was always only obstructive,” Hardik said, adding that “When it came to issues related to India, Gujarat and my Patidar community Congress’s only stand was to oppose whatever Govt. of India led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji did!”
Once, Hardik was vocal against the Prime Minister. “Whenever our country faced challenges and when the Congress needed leadership, Congress leaders were enjoying abroad! Senior leaders behave in a way like they hate Gujarat and Gujaratis,” he added.
“Gujaratis can never forget how the Congress party has insulted Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. When I joined the Congress, I did not know that the hearts and minds of leadership of the Congress are filled with such hatred towards our country India,” Patel said.
According to sources, Patel had been in touch with BJP leaders for the last couple of months. Recently, he had a meeting with BJP organisational secretary B L Santhosh. It is learnt that Santhosh has discussed the issue with the Prime Minister and Amit Shah, paving way for Hardik’s entry into the BJP.
Hardik is a youth icon of Patidar community in Gujarat and his entry will be a big catch for the BJP ahead of state assembly elections.
