Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) Executive President Hemant Soren on Thursday took oath as the 13th Chief Minister of Jharkhand.

He was administered the oath of office and secrecy by Governor CP Radhakrishnan at the Raj Bhavan. Soren’s father and JMM supremo Shibu Soren, his mother Rupi Soren, wife Kalpana and senior leaders of the JMM-led alliance were present at the swearing-in ceremony.

Champai Soren, who resigned as the Chief Minister on Wednesday, was also present. Soren had resigned as the CM shortly before his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate on January 31 in connection with a money-laundering case linked to an alleged land scam.

Hemant Soren was released from jail on June 28 after the High Court of Jharkhand granted him bail.

Hemant Soren’s wife Kalpana Murmu Soren has shared a photo of taking the appointment letter on the X handle. Along with the photo, Kalpana wrote that democracy finally won. The injustice that started on January 31, 2024 has now started getting justice in the true sense. Jai Jharkhand.
