Th Centre has decided to provide round-the-clock security to poet Kumar Vishwas after he accused Aam Aadmi Party Chief and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal of supporting separatists during the high-voltage campaign for the assembly elections in Punjab.
The Ministry of Home Affairs examined the level of threat perception to Vishwas, who has worked with the AAP, following his sensational comment on Kejriwal that he once backed separate Punjab. The Ministry on Saturday decided to give ‘Y’ category security to Kumar Vishwas, official sources said.
After the review that was based on intelligence inputs, it was decided to give Vishwas ‘Y’ category security through the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), the sources added. Under the ‘Y’ category security, he will be protected by four personal security officers round the clock.
Kumar Vishwas however said he had neither asked for Y category security nor he wanted it. “I have not received any message from authorities about the security. It is the work of the agencies and govt to think about the security of their citizens… I am not on talking terms with him (Kejriwal),” Vishwas said.
He added: “Arvind Kejriwal is not saying that he’ll oppose Khalistanis. If he does that, people who have invested in him will be unhappy…What I said in anger& his reaction proved that I was right…Neither I gave my resignation nor did he have capacity to remove me.”
