Godawari Power and Ispat Limited (GPIL), the flagship entity of Chhattisgarh-based Hira Group, has received the final approval to operate the enhanced capacity of Sponge Iron Division.
The company had enhanced the capacity of Sponge Iron Division (SID) from 4,95,000 Metric Tons per annum to 5,94,000 Metric Tons per annum at the existing plant site at Siltara Industrial Area in Raipur, Chhattisgarh. The GPIL had received the Consent to Operate in January 2024. The company late Wednesday night received the letter for the final approval.
“Pursuant to Regulation 30 of SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations 2015, we are pleased to inform you that our company has received an unconditional final approval letter dated 04.02.2025 from Chhattisgarh Environment Conservation Board (`Board’) vide which the Board has accorded its `Consent To Operate” for enhanced capacity of Sponge Iron Division (SID) from 4,95,000 Metric Tons per annum to 5,94,000 Metric Tons per annum at existing plant site at Siltara Industrial Area, Raipur, Chhattisgarh,” GPIL said in a regulatory filing today.
“Earlier we had received this permission on trial run basis vide CECB’s letter dated 19.01.2024 valid up to 31.08.2024, which was intimated to the Exchanges vide our letter dated 20.01.2024,” the company said, adding that there is no modification nor any additional investments shall be required in the Company’s Sponge Iron Division to operate the plant at the enhanced capacity of 5,94,000 Metric Tons.
GPIL is a fully integrated steel company that operates across the entire steel value chain. The Company’s operations span from iron ore extraction from two mines to the production of iron ore pellets and high-value steel products.
