Jamshedpur, September 30
The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Horticultural Society Jamshedpur was convened at the SNTI Auditorium on Saturday.
The event marked a significant moment for the society as it reaffirmed its dedication to promoting horticulture awareness among the citizens of Jamshedpur through community initiatives.
Mrs. Sumita Nupur, President of the Horticultural Society Jamshedpur, delivered the welcome address. She extended a warm welcome to Mrs. Ruchi Narendran, the Chairperson of the society, and all participating members. Mrs. Nupur highlighted the society’s relentless efforts to re-establish its presence after a three-year hiatus.
She went on to discuss the society’s activities throughout the year, emphasizing the success of the Annual Flower Show, which witnessed a 20 per cent increase in footfall compared to previous editions. The event also included the Garden of the Year award ceremony and competitions, both for the previous year and the current year.
Dr. Anuradha Mohapatra, Joint Secretary of HSJ, presented the Secretarial report, sharing the
welcoming inclusion of 11 new members into the society. She expressed gratitude to Tata Steel
Limited, Tata Steel UISL, and the sponsors for their wholehearted contribution and support for
various events held during the year.
Bipin Kumar, Treasurer of the Horticultural Society Jamshedpur, presented the Annual Audit
report and highlighted key features of the Balance Sheet. The continuity of the auditor was proposed
by Mr. Bipin and approved by the members. The Accounts reports were also passed after addressing
a few queries.
During the AGM, Mrs. Ruchi Narendran, Chairperson of the Horticultural Society Jamshedpur,
praised the executive team for their remarkable comeback after a three-year hiatus. She shared the
exciting news of the society acquiring an office space and inaugurated the renewed website of the
society. Ms. Mahua Gupta provided insights into the website’s main features.
Mrs. Narendran announced the names of two new office bearers – Dr. Anuradha Mohapatra as
General Secretary and Mr. Ashwini Srivastava as the Joint Secretary of the Society. She also revealed
the dates for the much-anticipated Annual Flower Show, scheduled to take place from December
23rd to December 26th, 2023.
Mrs. Sumita Nupur concluded the meeting with a presentation outlining the society’s plans for the
upcoming year, which includes the Annual Flower Show, workshops, and various other initiatives
aimed at promoting horticulture in the region.
