A day after the election process in the frontier state of Punjab was completed, security agencies on Friday recovered huge cache arms from Ferozepur.
Based on the intelligence inputs, the Border Security Force (BSF) and Special Task Force (STF) of Punjab police conducted the joint operation. The 2nd Battalion of BSF was engaged in the operation in Ferozepur sector that borders Pakistan.
The recovered weapons include five AK-47 rifles along with 10 magazines, three US-made Colt rifles along with six magazines and five China-made pistols along with 10 magazines and cartridges.
The seizure came just a day after the election results were announced in Punjab in which Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) came to power with unprecedented mandate. The arms recovery added significance as debate has started over possible separatist Khalistan’s involvement in the election.
