The health condition of arrested Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Pooja Singhal has reportedly deteriorated, putting the investigating Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials in a fix.
The 2000-batch IAS officer and Jharkhand’s mining secretary was arrested by ED Wednesday evening in connection with money laundering case. She has been charged with committing serious financial irregularities in the execution of MNREGA project in Khunti during her tenure as deputy commissioner (DC).
The IAS officer was remanded to five days ED custody on Wednesday night. She was shifted to Hotwar Central Jail in Ranchi.
Pooja Singhal was brought to the ED office in Hinoo today morning as the remand period start. After she complaint uneasiness, a team of doctors from RIMS led by Dr R K Jaiswal conducted the medical examination. Her blood pressure is reportedly fluctuating while she complaint of chest pain.
Sources quoting the Hotwar jail superintendent said that she was unwell since shifted to jail late last night. The IAS officer spent her night in the chamber of jail superintendent, sources added.
The health condition of Pooja Singhal has put the ED officials in a fix to further interrogate the officer. According to ED officials, she had concealed many vital information that needed to be revealed. On the first day of remand, she had complaint ill health and if the same condition prevailed, she had to be shifted to RIMS.
Sources said Pooja Singhal was looking anxious and worried when brought to the ED office. She was wearing the same suit that she had put on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the Jharkhand government today suspended Mining Secretary Pooja Singhal after the ED formally informed the state government that the agency has arrested her in the money laundering case.
