IAS officer’s vehicles charred as EV exploded while charging in Chhattisgarh

Raipur, November 21

A devastating fire broke out at the residence of an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer in Chhattisgarh capital city following blast in the charging electric vehicle (EV) Tuesday night.

The incidence took place at the official residence of Sudhakar Xalxo, a 2012-batch IAS officer of Chhattisgarh cadre. The official, who is in Telangana on election assignment, has been staying in the IAS officer colony located in Devendra Nagar area of Raipur.

Sources said panic was created in the entire colony housing the IAS officers after the blast that took place on an EV connected to a charging point. The Tata Nexon-made vehicle turned into flames and engulfed an Innova vehicle besides two motorcycles parked alongside. The air-conditioner installed in the bungalow was also charred.

The police party and fire tenders rushed to the spot and doused the flames. The police are investigating the matter.
