The Enforcement Directorate on Friday got the remand of Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Pooja Singhal for another five days as the officer was reportedly not cooperating in the interrogation.
The special PMLA court of Prabhat Kumar Sharma today extended the remand while sent the Chartered Accountant Suman Singh to judicial custody.
The ED officials told the court that the 2000-batch IAS officer arrested in connection with corruption cases had been complaining about health problems. Following which medical examination had to be conducted that had been severely affecting the interrogation.
The economic offence agency demanded the extension of her remand as the source of the unaccounted cash is unknown. Besides, the officials had to cross examine many documents and data retrieved from digital devices during the raid.
Sources said the ED officials had summoned mining officers of three districts. The investigating officials could make the officers sit jointly with the IAS officer who had allegedly committed serious corruption during her tenure in the districts as Deputy Commissioner.
Since one of the mining officer had sought time citing daughter’s marriage, the ED urged the court for extension citing the reason.
