Raipur, August 14
Raju Agasimani, an Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer of the 2006 batch, has been appointed as Member Secretary of the Chhattisgarh Environment Conservation Board (CECB). He has held several key positions within the Chhattisgarh Forest Department.
The post was vacant after the resignation of Arun Prasad, an IFS officer of 2006 batch, in June 2025. The state government on Thursday issued the order to appoint his batch-mate as his successor. The order said the appointment of Agasimani would come into effect immediately and would be valid till further order.
Born on June 1, 1978, Agasimani hails from the state of Karnataka. He was presently holding the positions of Chief Conservator of Forest, Raipur Circle, Raipur and Chief Conservator of Forest, Working Plan Division, Raipur.
He has played an active role in promoting sustainable forest management and livelihood enhancement initiatives, particularly in the Dhamtari Forest Division. He participated in an exposure visit for IFS officers where discussions were held on Soil Moisture Conservation (SMC) works and the Dugli Van Dhan Vikas Kendra (VDVK).
He has also been involved in wildlife conservation efforts in Chhattisgarh, as evidenced by the tracking and successful release of a Himalayan Griffon vulture named ‘Jatayu’ after rescue and rehabilitation.
