The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Raipur celebrated the 76th Republic Day with great enthusiasm, embracing the theme ‘Swarnim Bharat – Virasat aur Vikas’ (Golden India – Heritage and Development). The occasion was marked by stirring speeches, captivating performances and a commitment to national service.
IIM Raipur Director Prof Ram Kumar Kakani unfurled the national flag and delivered the Republic Day speech. He cited the example of Dr Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar, the architect of India’s Constitution. He said Dr Ambedkar’s unyielding determination and belief in the power of education.
Kakani said, “His story teaches us the importance of social harmony, the power of education and the importance of resilience. His faith in Justice, Liberty, Equality and Fraternity continues to guide us towards success”. The IIM Director advised students to contribute towards a stronger and more equitable India by striving for inclusivity and excellence.
Prof Munmun Goswami, Professor HRM and Organizational Behaviour, delivered an impressive address wherein she elaborated on the theme of Swarnim Bharat – Virasat aur Vikas, specifying the symbiotic relationship between heritage and development. “India’s growth does not only involve economic growth but towards a deep cultural growth,” she said.
Prof Goswami also shed light on the emerging use of advanced technologies like AI and Chatbots. She concluded her speech with an inspiring quote from Swami Vivekananda, “Let’s Arise, Awake Until the Goal is Reached”.
The event was concluded with cultural performances ranging from striking poetry to melodious singing and a vibrant dance performance by the students of IIM Raipur. It reflected the theme, showcasing the harmonious blend of India’s cultural heritage and aspirations for development. Students and faculty expressed their gratitude for being a part of this historic occasion expressing a spirit of unity and national pride among everyone that resonated throughout the IIM Raipur campus.
