Indian Steel Conference to be held in Bhilai on 29th and 30th August

Major steel producers including SAIL, TISCO, Jindal, Essar, NMDC to participate

Bhilai, August 27

A national steel conference titled “Indian Steel Conference: Importance and Role of Decarbonization and Infrastructure Development” will be organized jointly by Iron and Steel Review Magazine-Kolkata, Indian Institute of Metals (IIM) and Bhilai Chapter and Institution of Engineers (India) Bhilai Centre in association with SAIL-Bhilai Steel Plant, on 29th and 30th August 2024 at Bhilai, the steel city of SAIL-Bhilai Steel Plant.

The 2-day conference is being organized at Mahatma Gandhi Kala Mandir located at Civic Center, Bhilai and Bhilai Niwas. It will have multiple sessions on steel making. This conference will be inaugurated on 29th August 2024 at Mahatma Gandhi Kala Mandir Bhilai. Before the inauguration, registration of all the delegates will be done on 29th August 2024 at Kala Mandir Bhilai from 08:30 to 09:30. The first part of this conference will be held at Kala Mandir and the second part on 30 August 2024, in which the Supplier meet be held at Bhilai Niwas. Registration for the Supplier meet will be done at Bhilai Niwas from 2:00 to 2:30 pm. In this event, the participating companies and suppliers will also set up their stalls in the exhibition.

The Conference will be inaugurated in the presence of the Chief guest and other guests. The Souvenir of the Conference will also be unveiled in the inaugural ceremony. Along with this, a panel discussion will also be held on the importance and role of de-carbonization and infrastructure development. In its second session, the main report of this conference will be given. Technical papers will be presented by the representatives of various participating companies in the third, fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh sessions. Summary of the sessions will be presented by the Chairman and Rapporteur of the sessions.

In these sessions, presentations will be given on topics related to steel industry related technology for increasing steel quality, various initiatives of environmentally friendly decarbonization in Indian steel sector, resource efficiency, road map for reducing carbon emissions, temperature, pressure, optimized gas, effect of various elements and components in the steel making process, structural applications etc. and strategies for the future will be prepared by discussing them.

In the eighth and ninth sessions of this conference, there will be a Supplier meet, in which steel informatics as a future in solving the problems of Iron and Steel industry including innovative use of LD slag in road construction and manufacturing of paver blocks will also be discussed. Along with this, MACO presentation and green sustainability will also be highlighted.

In the conference, 30 representatives from BSP including Senior officials and representatives from various units of SAIL will participate. Along with this, officials and representatives from various private companies and institutions related to steel industries and technology will also participate. Representatives of VISL, NMDC, JSW, Tata Steel, MECON, SAIL- Refractory Unit, SMS India, RDCIS BSL Plant Center, CSIR-Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology, SAIL CET Ranchi, Danieli India Limited, Shri Jagannath, MOIL, SAIL’s Iron and Steel Research and Development Center-RDCIS Ranchi, SAIL Corporate Office, various steel plants of SAIL including Bokaro, Durgapur, Rourkela, IISCO, Salem, MEL including Primetals Technologies India, Monet, Jindal, Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology (IMMT)-Bhubaneswar, IIT-Bhilai, NIT- Raipur etc. and private Iron and Steel producing companies will also participate in this conference. More than 200 delegates are expected to participate in this conference, who will seriously discuss the modernization, decarbonization and increasing demand and technology in the iron and steel sector for 2 days.
