Jerusalem, September 30

Fateh Sherif, Head of the Lebanon Branch in the Hamas terrorist organization, was eliminated in a precise Israeli Air Force (IAF) strike on Monday.

Sherif was responsible for coordinating Hamas’ terror activities in Lebanon with Hezbollah operatives, as well as Hamas’ efforts in Lebanon to recruit operatives and acquire weapons, the Israel Defence Force (IDF) said in an X post. Sherif was killed today in an airstrike on the al-Bass refugee camp in the southern Lebanese city of Tyre, along with his wife and children.

It came days after Hezbollah confirmed the death of one of its founders and chief Hassan Nasrallah when the Israeli military said it eliminated the terrorist leader in an air-strike on the group’s central headquarters in Beirut.

Fateh Sherif was also an accredited United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) member for Palestine Refugees and was the head of the UNRWA Teachers Union in Lebanon.

The United Nations agency for Palestinian refugees confirms that Fateh Sherif, named by Hamas as its leader in Lebanon, was employed by UNRWA. However, it underlined that he was being probed over his political activities. Reports indicate he had been the principal of the UNRWA-run Deir Yassin Secondary School in al-Bass.

The IDF and the ISA will to continue to operate against anyone who poses a threat to the civilians of the State of Israel, the Israel military said.
