Jashpur, November 14
Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat on Monday said the pride of tribals had been India’s pride as the community trudge behind truth.
The rich tradition of the ancestors had been the country’s pride and the Janjatiya (tribal) samaj had been following it without falter, Bhagwat said. “Adaivasi Gaurav hi Bharat ka Gaurav Hai (tribals’ pride is only India’s pride),” Bhagwat said while addressing a function organised to mark the ‘Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas’ in Jashpur district on Monday under the aegis of Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram.
Earlier, he garlanded the statue of Bhagwan Birsa Munda and unveiled the statue of former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP and Union minister late Dilip Singh Judev, who had created a niche for himself among the tribals by reconvert from Christianity through his ‘Ghar Wapsi’ programme.
“The birthday of Bhagwan Birsa Munda (which is observed as Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas on November 15) and the unveiling of the statue of Dilip Singh Judev are coincidentally linked,” Bhagwat said. The Sarsanghchalak said he had the opportunity to attend Judev’s programme and he was quite impressed with the dedication with which he served the tribal society.
Bhagwat said Bhagwan Birsa Munda and Dilip Singh Judev treated every work as sanctified and served the society with simplicity despite having a name, fame, assets and power. They worked for the unity of tribal communities, he said.
The Janjatiya samaj has been a protector of forests and environment, and saw God in every element, Bhagwat said, adding that they live in the forests and have a distinct identity of following the path of truth. The tribals have dedicated their lives to protect the country, religion and rich tradition, he added.
The Sarsanghchalak said it was a matter of pride that the samaj had tall personalities like Bhagwan Birsa Munda and Dilip Singh Judev.
