Controversial remarks against the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi by the national president of JDU, Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lallan Singh has invited strong criticism from the BJP here.

Lallan Singh on Friday had claimed Modi was an imposter (bahurupiya) and a duplicate OBC. Former union minister and BJP member of Lok Sabha from Patna Saheb, Ravishankar Prasad, said here on Saturday, “What kind of politics, Mr Nitish Kumar, the self-declared PM candidate is promoting through his party president? In desperation, JDU leaders are making below the standard barbs against Narendra Modi”.

Ravishankar on Saturday said by calling the Prime Minister an imposter and duplicate, the JDU has brought the political discourse at its lowest ebb since Independence. No, PM in the past was abused like this, he regretted.

He reminded the JDU leaders, while PM was being abused by the Bihar chief minister and JDU leaders in public meetings, Narendra Modi, maintained restraint. He reminded Lallan Singh, “You had lost the 2014 Lok Sabha elections when JDU was without an alliance with BJP, but in 2019, you won from Munger, because Narendra Modi went there to campaign for you”.

He called the statement of Lallan highly derogatory and claimed JDU president followed Nitish model of politics.

Hitting out at JDU president, Ravishankar said Narendra Modi came from a very poor family, he enabled a tribal woman in Draupadi Murmu to become the President, gave 10 per cent reservations to even poor among the forward castes. He accused the JDU president of having a “shameful extreme arrogance of a feudal mindset”.

Former Deputy Chief Minister and senior BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi, in a statement said by calling Narendra Modi a duplicate backward, Lallan Singh has hurt the sentiments of millions of backward caste people. He claimed it was because of the support of the backward caste voters, JDU led governments were formed in Bihar earlier.

The JDU national president had made controversial comments against PM at JDU headquarters here on Friday evening and had alleged the BJP was anti-extremely and other backward castes. BJP engineered postponement of the civic body elections by sabotaging EBC reservations in the Mayor and deputy mayor offices. He went on to allege Narendra Modi had announced reservations for his own caste when he came chief minister of Gujarat. He never sold tea at a railway station,he is an imposter and a duplicate backward caste leader.

When asked by media persons today whether he regretted his comments against the Prime Minister,Lallan Singh said, “Sorry for what, I did not use any unparliamentary language. Is calling a person duplicate and imposter, unparliamentary”?
