A day after meeting Congress leader Sonia Gandhi, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Monday called on President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi.
Soren is out on bail after spending five months in jail in connection with a money laundering case. The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) Executive President had resigned as the Chief Minister before his arrest on January 31 by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with a money laundering case linked to an alleged land scam.
The Jharkhand High Court granted him bail on June 28. After coming out, Soren took oath as the Chief Minister of Jharkhand on July 5. He is on an official visit to the national capital.
This was Soren maiden meeting with the Prime Minister after taking over as the Chief Minister for the second term in the current legislative assembly. The meeting took place in the Prime Minister’s Office. The PMO posted on ‘X’ after the meeting stating that Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi today.
Later, Hemant along with wife Kalpana Soren, who is also MLA, met Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Hemant Soren shared this information by tweeting on the social media site ‘X’ on Monday. He described the meetings as courtesy visits.
He wrote on ‘X’ – Had a courtesy meeting with Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji. Later he wrote another post on ‘X’- Met the Honorable President Smt. Draupadi Murmu ji at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
