A joint confidential circular describing Muslims as a threat to the Chief Minister, Hemant Soren has invited strong protest from the Congress, an ally of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) in the state.

Circular citing intelligence inputs was issued by the Giridih Superintendent of Police and Deputy Commissioner as a precautionary measure during the visit of the Chief Minister for his “Appki Yojana,Appki Sarkar ” at Giridh yesterday.

Irfan Ansari, Congress MLA from Jamatara in a statement regretted Muslims being termed as threat to the chief minister and called terrorists along with left wing terrorist like People’s War Group and CPI (Maoists).

Ansari said the Hemant Soren government was formed with the help of the Muslims who had voted for him. Muslim voters played a vital role in his victory, he claimed and said terming them as terrorists was highly condemnable. Their integrity and loyalty are being questioned. They feel offended due to the “behaviour of some pro-RSS and pro-BJP officers”. Government should withdraw the comments against the Muslims in the circular and take action against the officers concerned.

Ansari said Muslim youths have been projected in a demeaning manner, they feel dishonoured. He challenged the government to name any Muslim organisation in Jharkhand which posed threat to the chief minister and was involved in terror activities.

According to the viral circular, Hemant Soren, who enjoyed Z plus security, faced threats from left wing terrorists and certain Muslim organisations active in the state. JMM led by Hemant Soren has support of Congress and RJD MAs  in the UPA government.
