Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren had sought the help of his Gujarat counterpart Vijay Rupani to expedite the supply of oxygen related equipment.
In a letter to the Gujarat Chief Minister dated today, Soren said he had been informed that many of the state’s orders of LMO (liquid medical oxygen) tanks, vaporizers and cylinders were pending with the manufacturers in Gujarat. “I seek your assistance in getting the concerned manufacturers to expedite the delivery of the aforementioned orders,” Soren said.
This would allow them to make oxygen available to the hospitals and subsequently the people who desperately need it, the Jharkhand Chief Minister said in the letter.
In the light of the current situation prevailing in the country, where people are reeling under the impact of COVID-19 wave, he felt that it was imperative that they should work together to overcome the situation, Soren told Rupani in the communication. The state of Jharkhand is a surplus manufacturer of oxygen, which is presently the most vital lifesaving element in COVID treatment.
“Unfortunately, we are struggling with flow constraints in supply-chain due to paucity of oxygen cylinders and the capacity of refillers available in Jharkhand,” the Chief Minister said.
Jharkhand is among the first 10 States in the country accounting for 79.66 per cent of the new deaths. Maharashtra saw the maximum casualties (832). Followed by Delhi where 350 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours. Jharkhand stood seventh with 103 deaths.
