Jharkhand: Two CRPF CoBRA jawans injured in Maoist encounter

Two jawans of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF)’s elite Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA) were injured in an encounter with the Maoists in Chaibasa district on Thursday.

According to police sources, the CoBRA jawans were on an operation when Maoists ambushed the party in the border area of Tonto and Goikera police station of Chaibasa. The CoBRA was raised in the CRPF to combat the Left-Wing Extremists.

The jawans immediately took the position and retaliated. After a brief gun battle, the Maoists escaped from the scene. Two CoBRA jawans were injured during the action.

Sources said both the jawans were being airlifted to Ranchi for better medical care. Their condition is reported to be stable.
