Chandigarh, April 4
In a surprise move that has come as a jolt to the elite Indian Administrative Service (IAS) cadre, a 1992-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer will be in the helm of affairs in Punjab Secretariat.
The newly inducted AAP government in Punjab has appointed Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Gaurav Yadav as the Special Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. Normally, the post is reserved for the IAS cadre as it is a crucial position in the government.
Yadav is known as counter-intelligence expert. He has held important postings, including IG-Intelligence, during the SAD-BJP Government in 2016.
Son-in-law of former Punjab DGP P C Dogra, he had a low-profile tenure during the Congress regime.
