The body of journalist Mukesh Chandrakar, who was missing for three days, was found in a septic tank of an under-construction site of a contractor.
The body of journalist was discovered from Chattanpara area, 2 km from his home and 5 km from Bijapur police station. On receiving the information about the body, the police cordoned off the area and started investigating.
Mukesh Chandrakar had left the house on the evening of January 1. After some time, his phone got switched off. When he did not return home till night, his brother and journalist Yukesh Chandrakar searched for him at the houses of close ones and different places in the city.
After failing to trace him, Yukesh Chandrakar lodged a missing person report with the police.
Taking cognizance of Mukesh’s missing report, the police started the investigation. The breakthrough reportedly came after Delhi police nabbed a person on the tip off of Chhattisgarh police. The arrested person is a relative of a contractor who had been under the scanner.
Sources said journalists suspected the involvement of the contractor. A septic tank was constructed in a day or two in the contractor’s premises that created doubt. When the concrete was dismantled, the body of the journalist was discovered in the tank.
