The financial aid provided by the Jindal Steel and Power (JSP) Foundation has given a new look to the Raigarh stadium.
The JSP Foundation has infused Rs 2.5 crore to renovated the stadium, located at Boirdadar, with state-of-the-art facilities. Now the stadium will have facilities of international level badminton court, basketball court, state-of-the-art gym, multipurpose hall and pavilion. New facilities for table tennis, swimming and other sports will also be available here.
It will provide better resources to the players of the region. Chhattisgarh’s sports and youth welfare minister Umesh Patel inaugurated the renovated stadium on the occasion of Sports Day.
Local MLA Prakash Nayak, Collector Taran Prakash Sinha, Superintendent of Police Sadanand Kumar, District Panchayat CEO Jitendra Yadav, Municipal Commissioner Sunil Kumar Chandravanshi, Executive Director of JSP Sabyasachi Bandyopadhyay and President of Jindal Ladies Club Mrs. Anandita Bandyopadhyay were especially present in the inauguration ceremony.
Addressing the gathering, Patel said, “Today Raigarh Stadium is seen in a completely new form. I saw the newly constructed gym, badminton court, basketball court, table tennis court, multipurpose hall and the entire stadium here today. For this work, JSP Foundation and Raigarh Collector Taran Prakash Sinha deserves all credits.” He said that more facilities have to be developed in the stadium in future. The minister also requested the JSP Foundation to construct skating ring for the players in the campus.
Sabyasachi Bandyopadhyay, JSP Executive Director, talked about company’s Chairman Naveen Jindal’s passion for sports and Raigarh, where the company has a major steel facility. The facilities of this level in a single campus will be available not only in Chhattisgarh but also in selected cities of the country, he said, adding that Raigarh has also become one of those cities. Bandyopadhyay said JSP Foundation had been working on multidimensional projects across the country to improve the quality of life of all sections of the society.
He added that under the leadership of Chairperson Mrs. Shalu Jindal, JSP Foundation has improved the quality of life of more than 1 crore people across the country. At present, work is going on many projects at a cost of more than Rs 6 crore in Raigarh itself. These include Raigarh Stadium as well as many works including Chakrapath, Railway Underbridge, Pink Toilets, Dust Bin Installation.
A special ambulance service for cattle ‘Jindal Vet Seva’ was also started by JSP Foundation. It was flagged off by the guests on the occasion. Through this all-convenient vehicle, arrangements will be made for regular health check-up, treatment, vaccination etc. of animals in the entire Raigarh block. It will also be of great help in improving the breed of animals through artificial insemination. This will directly benefit the livestock farmers. A day before, a special ambulance service of ‘Jindal Vet Seva’ was also started in Angul, Odisha.
JSP Chairman Naveen Jindal said in his message that “JSP Foundation has taken a big step by including animal husbandry in its action plan. Since inception, JSP Foundation has been working to improve the economic condition of the farming families and their domestic needs. Livestock has been dedicated to promoting awareness and care for the resource. It will also help in upgrading the breed of cattle through the latest technology of artificial insemination and reduce the number of stray cattle from the streets.”
