Raipur, August 15

The Machinery Division of Jindal Steel and Power (JSP) celebrated the 78th Independence Day with patriotic zeal and pomp.

The event reminds every Indian of a new beginning. On this day a new era began after breaking free from the clutches of British colonialism for more than 200 years. August 15, 1947 was the fateful day when India was declared independent from British colonialism and the reins of control were handed over to the leaders of the country.

It was India’s fortune to get independence, because the freedom struggle lasted for a long time and it was a tiring experience, in which many freedom fighters sacrificed their lives.

The importance of the tricolor can only be understood by an Indian and understanding this importance, Naveen Jindal made an effort to take the tricolor to every home. In 1995, Naveen Jindal filed a petition in the Delhi High Court demanding a change in the flag code. In the petition, he argued in favor of it being the fundamental right of every citizen of the country.

From the High Court, the matter went to the Supreme Court and after a fight of almost a decade, the Supreme Court gave a historic verdict on 23 January 2004. In its verdict, the Supreme Court allowed every Indian to hoist the national flag of India, the tricolor, with dignity and respect throughout the year.

It is the result of the efforts of Naveen Jindal that today every common man can also hoist the tricolor flag. For this purpose, 15th August was celebrated with great pomp in Machinery Division Raipur where employees of the company along with their families were present.

The program started with a march past followed by flag hoisting. Plant Head Nilesh T. Shah congratulated everyone on Independence Day and in the closing speech of the program, he also informed about how JSP will develop in future.
