Anjali Oraon, a cadet of the Jharkhand State Sports Promotion Society (JSSPS), which is running to achieve the coveted dream of winning Olympic medals for the country, passed away this morning.
Government of Jharkhand and Central Coalfields Ltd (CCL) had inked MoU to set up a sports academy at Khelgoan, Hotwar, Ranchi to promote sports among buddying players in 2015.
As soon as health of Anjali deteriorated on wee hours of Sunday and she was taken to Gandhinagar Central Hospital, Kanke.
After preliminary examination, Anjali was declared brought dead by doctor. Later information was given to local police station and body was sent for post-mortem. The post mortem report is awaited.
Anjali’s parent was informed and JSSPS management arranged sending body to Loharduga for last rites. Anjali is resident of Lohardaga, one of districts of Jharkhand and admitted in JSSPS during 2018-19 batch.
The academy is run by JSSPS with its Local Management Committee (LMC) manned by CCL personnel. There are more than 400 JSSPS cadets who are undergoing training with profession coaches and won laurels for Jharkhand in various sports tournaments including international.
Altogether about 1000 medals were won by them in different sports disciplines like athletics, archery, boxing etc.
