Jubilant June for SAIL-BSP, rail production jumps all-time high

The Universal Rail Mill (URM) of Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP), an arm of state-run Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), has recorded its best monthly production of finished rails, prime rails and long rails in the month of June 2021.

The Mill has also recorded its best ever first quarter (Q1) production of finished rails, prime rails and long rails in April to June 2021 period. It is worth mentioning that BSP has switched over its entire rail production from both Universal Rail Mill and Rail and Structural Mill from UTS 90 grade to R 260 grade with new 60E1 profile to meet the Indian Railway’s demand for the new grade and profile.

URM recorded its best June Finished Rail Production of 58,155 Tonnes (T) as against previous best of 54,767 T in June 20. The Mill also recorded its best Q1 Finished Rail production at 1,55,975 T. The prime rail production for the month was recorded at 52,845 T as against the previous best of 48,883 T in June 2020. It also recorded its best Q1 prime rail production at 1,37,252. T

URM recorded its highest June Long rail production of 48,142 T as against previous best of 44,565 T in June 2020. URM also recorded its best Q1 long rail production of 1,24,697 T.

The Plant also recorded its best June production of 56,276 T of Long Rails from both Rail Mills as against previous best of 54,793 T in June 20. The Plant has also recorded its highest April- June long rails production of 1,36,032 T from both its Universal Rail Mill and Rail and Structural Mill. While more than 1 lakh Tonne of R260 grade Rails in 60E1 profile has been produced and dispatched by URM till June’21, production of Prime Rails of Grade R260 with 60E1 profile from Rail and Structural Mill was 36,279 T.
