The bail plea of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) Chief Lalu Yadav has been granted bail by the Jharkhand High Court.
The 73-year-old and former Bihar Chief Minister and Railway Minister is in custody following his conviction and sentencing by a CBI court in February in a fodder scam case involving embezzlement of over Rs 139 crore from Doranda treasury. He was sentenced to five years in prison and slapped a fine of Rs 60 lakh by a special CBI court in Ranchi in connection with the fifth fodder scam case.
The HC has granted conditional bail to Yadav and asked to deposit half of the fine fixed by the CBI Court.
Presently, Yadav’s treatment is going on in AIIMS Delhi. Earlier he was admitted in the paying ward of RIMS and was referred to AIIMS for better treatment.
