Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) President and former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav was convicted by Special CBI Judge Sudhanshu Kumar Shashi at Ranchi for another fodder scam today.

The court found involvement in fraudulent withdrawal of Rs 139.5 crore from Doranda treasury during his tenure as Chief Minister of undivided Bihar.

Lalu had been convicted in four earlier cases registered by CBI at Chaibasa, Deoghar and Dumka. He was first jailed following his conviction in September 2013.

The former Union Railway Minister – who has now been convicted in all five fodder scam cases in which he was named as a conspirator – was present in the courtroom Tuesday morning as Judge read out verdict.

There were 99 accused in the Doranda treasury case. CBI court acquitted 24 other accused.

The quantum of sentence is expected to be pronounced on Friday, February 18.
