Guwahati, June 2
Pema Khandu-led Bharatiya Janata Party lodged a comfortable victory in the Arunachal state polls bagging 37 seats in the 60-member legislative assembly.
The BJP on Sunday returned to power in Arunachal Pradesh for the third time in a row. Counting of votes was taken up for the 50 seats for which elections were held in the northeastern state along with Lok Sabha polls on April 19.
The remaining 10 seats were won by the saffron party uncontested. Chief Minister Pema Khandu is one of the 10 candidates who won unopposed.
The rest of the 14 seats in the state were divided among the National People’s Party (5 seats), the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) (3 seats), the People’s Party of Arunachal (PPA) (2 seats), and the Indian National Congress (1 seat), it added.
