Patna, June 14

From 12 Janpath to 18, Rajendra Prasad Road in New Delhi, it is hardly a 10-minute walk. But for a habitual late riser Chirag Paswan, it was too long on Monday morning.

Indeed, the morning was not good. Chirag is literally a late riser, in bed and also in the boardroom of politics. By the time he woke up, the political development had shaken him up. Literally, a wakeup call for his style of functioning, as political observers believe in Bihar.

Chirag, MP from Jamui in Bihar, drove to meet his uncle Pashupati Kumar Paras. He waited for 30 minutes in his vehicle outside the bungalow of uncle, who overthrew him late last night. Without meeting Paras, the junior Paswan returned, reluctant to talk to the waiting mediapersons.

Chirag has been removed as president of the party formed by his father and parliamentary party leader by the uncle as both party and pariwar shunned doors for the film-flop Hero turned politician.

Five out of six LJP MPs met the Lok Sabha speaker, On Birla and submitted a letter informing Paras was their leader and MP from Nawada, Chandan Singh the chief whip,

Chirag’s last bid to pacify his uncle failed as his offer to quit and elect his mother, Reena Sharma Paswan as party president was rejected

Mehboob Ali Kaiser, party MP from Khagaria said all leaders were ignored by Chirag who fielded borrowed candidates against JDU in the assembly elections. “Resentment has been brewing against Chirag Paswan since assembly elections,” Kaiser said.

JDU welcomed the split with the proverbial comment, “as you sow, so you reap”. Party National President RCP Sinha said Chirag over-estimated his political stature. He reaped what he had planned.

Lallan Singh, JDU parliamentary party leader who had been instrumental in splitting the LJP held a meeting with five LJP MPs at the residence of rebel LJP MP from Vaishali, Veena Devi. Lallan was hacked by the JDU principal spokesman, Sanjay Kumar Singh, MLC and Deputy Speaker in Bihar assembly, Maheshwari Hazari, a former cabinet colleague of Nitish Kumar.

Hazari is also a close relative of Paswan family. Lallan is believed to have suggested merger of LJP into JDU before the monsoon session of the parliament.
