Raipur, March 10

Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly Speaker Charan Das Mahant took a serious note on the security issues raised by two legislators and asked state’s Home Minister Tamradhwaj Sahu to submit a detailed report.

Of the two legislators, one belonged to the ruling Congress party. Chhani Chandu Sahu, Congress MLA from Khujji raised the issue during Zero Hour on Thursday and said the common man could be safe, when the ruling Congress party woman MLA felt vulnerable.

The budget session of the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly is in progress.

Chhanni Sahu said she had returned her security after a first information report (FIR) was filed against her husband Chandu Sahu under sections of the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act-1989 on the basis of a fake complaint, a month ago. She took up the matter in every forum including Home Minister Tamradhwaj Sahu but in vain.

Being a Naxal infested district, she and her family members are not safe. The Congress legislator charged that the mafia with backing of the state government and its corrupt officials were involved in hatching a conspiracy to trap her husband in a fake case.

Similarly, Balodabazar Janta Congress Chhattisgarh (Jogi) MLA Pramod Sharma also raised that an FIR has also been registered against him when he had attended a public hearing within his assembly constituency. The voices of dissent are being suppressed by the Congress party leaders and government.

Speaker intervened and asked the state government to re-examine the case registered against Chandu Sahu, husband of MLA Chhani Sahu and MLA Pramod Sharma. He directed the home minister to submit a report before the House assembles on Friday and beef up security of both the legislators.
