Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren would not love to hear from his own cadre; protest against shifting party’s lawmakers to Chhattisgarh capital.

Fearing that the BJP could split the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and Congress following Soren’s alleged held guilty in a case of office of profit, the ruling allies in Jharkhand yesterday shifted its 32 MLAs of the 50 to Chhattisgarh, a Congress-ruled state. They have been accommodated in luxury MayFair Resort in Nava Raipur with full arrangement.

Former Chief Minister and BJP leader Raman Singh yesterday charged that expensive liquor had been arranged for the Jharkhand MLAs. He quoted a video that went viral in which a state government vehicle packed with expensive liquor was caught on camera outside the MayFair hotel.

Hemant Soren who could be disqualified as MLA for allegedly allotting a mine in his name while holding office of the department. The decision is pending with Governor Ramesh Bais. The development had created political uncertainty in the state while ruling parties feared it could propel its members to switch sides as BJP was eyeing to take the dividend.

The JMM, however, has to take on its own cadre besides the BJP as resentment had started spilling out in the party for shifting the MLAs to Raipur. JMM’s Borio MLA Lobin Hembrom asserted that those who want to switch over would do so no matter whether they stayed in Jharkhand or abroad. “Many sensational incidents have taken place in the state and in such a situation, the absence of MLAs and ministers is sending the wrong message,” the JMM MLA said.

Referring to the compensation of Rs 10 lakh announced by Soren for the family members of Ankita who was set on fire alive by her unrequited lover in Dum, Hembram said giving money to the victim was not all enough. “Being physically present in the hour of grief and giving strength to the family would have been much better,” he said, adding that the state government needed to act on the line. He said the JMM leadership should not act in haste till the Governor announced his decision.

Meanwhile, Soren would be reaching Raipur today evening to meet the MLAs in the hotel. He was likely to return to Ranchi with three Congress ministers as Cabinet meeting had been scheduled for Thursday.
