With the lockdown being eased and Jyotiraditya M. Scindia taking over the command of civil aviation, Madhya Pradesh would get eight new flights.
Of the eight flights, six would be connecting Gwalior from where Scindia comes from while one would operate between Surat and Jabalpur. All the flights would be operated by SpiceJet. Gwalior would be connected to Mumbai, Pune and Ahmedabad in the new schedule.
“Good news for Madhya Pradesh! Starting 8 new flights from July 16 onwards via @flyspicejet- Gwalior-Mumbai-Gwalior. Gwalior-Pune-Gwalior. Jabalpur-Surat-Jabalpur and Ahmedabad-Gwalior-Ahmedabad,” Scindia said in a tweet. The ministry of civil aviation and aviation industry are committed to take UDAN to greater heights, the minister added.
With restrictions being eased and COVID-19 cases on the decline, airlines are announcing new flights. SpiceJet had announced 42 new flights of which eight would benefit Madhya Pradesh. According to ministry officials, the other airlines would also announce more flights in the coming weeks.
The airline would be deploying its Boeing 737 and Q-400 aircraft on these new routes.
