Within hours of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan hinting the hardest punishment against the man peeing on a tribal youth, the Sidhi police swung into action and apprehended the accused last night.
Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra said, “BJP government has taken action against the accused. The accused (Pravesh Shukla) was arrested last night and encroachment will be bulldozed.”
A case has been registered against the accused under sections 294, 504 of the Indian Penal Code and SC/ST Act, the officer said. Action against the stringent National Security Act (NSA) was also initiated.
Police in Madhya Pradesh’s Sidhi district on Tuesday registered the case after a video showing a man urinating on a tribal youth went viral and drew an outrageous response. As the matter came to the notice of the Chief Minister, Chouhan said late in the evening that the government would ensure “sternest possible punishment” for the accused that will set a precedent against the criminals. “We will not spare him (culprit) at any cost,” he said.
“A viral video from Sidhi district has come to my notice…I have instructed the administration to arrest the culprit and take the strictest action and also invoke the National Security Act,” Chouhan said in a tweet in the evening.
The BJP categorically denied that the accused is a BJP worker. Chouhan said, “Criminals have no caste, religion and party. A criminal is just a criminal.”
