Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan removed the Dindori Superintendent of Police with immediate effect for allegedly mishandling a minor’s rape case in which missionary school was involved.
A case of sexual exploitation of a minor tribal girl student came to light in the Missionary Higher Secondary School in Junwani village of Dindori. Station in-charge Vijay Patle was already been suspended for releasing the accused principal from the police station.
The Chief Minister had taken a strong exception over the laxity in probe and the negligence of the police. On Wednesday, he ordered to remove the Superintendent of Police, Sanjay Singh with immediate effect.
There were allegations of a cover-up on the police from the very beginning of the investigation. Describing the arrest of the accused principal as a case of under general sections, the police released him from the station.
Besides school principal, priest, a teacher and the warden were also involved in the incident. Following the instruction from the National Commission for Child Protection, the police registered offence against the four accused under sections of sexual exploitation, molestation and POSCO Act. The police arrested Principal Nan Singh Yadav, while the other three accused escaped by dodging the police.
Soon after the arrest, the accused principal was released from the police station by giving a notice. When the action of the police came to light, people and the Child Protection Commission raised strong objections. The senior police officials suspended the station in-charge Vijay Patle, who released Principal Nan Singh Yadav. The police later arrested the accused principal and produced him in the court, who was sent to jail by the court.
Interestingly, SP Sanjay Singh justified the action of the station in-charge and called it legal. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan took a serious note and spoke to senior police officers and expressed his displeasure over the negligent working style of the police. On Wednesday, he asked to remove Dindori SP Sanjay Singh.
The 2011-batch-IPS officer, Sanjay Singh has been transferred to Police Headquarters as Assistant Inspector General of Police.
