The birth anniversary of Jagadguru Adi Shankaracharya will be celebrated in Madhya Pradesh as Ekatma Parv on April 25.
The event will be organised under the aegis of Acharya Shankar Sanskritik Ekta Nyas in collaboration with the Madhya Pradesh government’s culture department. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will be the chief guest at the function to be organised at the Kushabhau Thackeray Auditorium at 6 pm.
Acharya Swami Avdheshanand Giri Acharya, Mahamandleshwar Juna Akhara, will preside over the function in which Swamini Vimalananda, in-charge of Chinmaya Mission in Coimbatore, will deliver the keynote speech.
The Nyas will also felicitate Swamini Vimalananda and Dr Kanshi Ram, former professor of Hansraj College under Delhi University on the occasion.
Adi Shankara, also called Adi Shankaracharya, was an 8th-century Indian Vedic scholar and teacher. He was born in Kalady that is situated in Kerala during 788 C.E. Adi Shankaracharya Jayanti is observed on Panchami Tithi during Shukla Paksha of Vaishakha month falling between April and May.
