Madhya Pradesh to spend Rs 2848 crore to build CM Rise Schools

In a move aimed to strengthen the education infrastructure in the state, Madhya Pradesh government has decided to construct 70 well-equipped and modern schools.

The state cabinet in its meeting held on Tuesday approved the proposal to construct 70 new schools under Chief Minister (CM) Rise School scheme. The meeting was chaired by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

In the first phase of the CM Rise School Schemes in the state, 275 schools are being developed by the School Education Department. According to state government spokesperson, the fresh proposal will entail an investment of Rs 2847.63 crore. The Project Examination Committee had given its nod to the proposal.

CM Rise Schools are being developed as resource-rich world-class schools that offer high-quality education with a vision to create a school community that fosters holistic development in all students. It empowers students to uphold constitutional values and contribute to society.

In another crucial decision in the meeting, the state cabinet has approved the interest waiver scheme for the waiver of the outstanding interest up to Rs 200,000 of 11,19000 defaulter farmers of Primary Agricultural Credit Cooperative Societies (PACS) to waive the amount of Rs 2123 crore. The scheme was approved by the Cabinet in accordance with the announcement of Chief Minister “Farmers who have become defaulter due to loan waiver, their interest amount will be paid by the government”.

The state government will compensate the defaulter farmers who have outstanding loans of up to Rs. 2 lakh including principal and interest as on March 31, 2023 from Primary Agricultural Credit Cooperative Societies (PACS).
