Mahanadi Coalfields inks Rs 43 crore pact for girls hostel in NIT Rourkela

Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) on Friday inked an MoU with National Institute of Technology (NIT) Rourkela for the construction of Rs 43 crore girls hostel  “MCL Hall of Residence”.

The MoU was signed in the presence of Uday Anant Kaole, Chairman cum Managing Director; Keshav Rao, Director (Human Resources) MCL and Prof. K. Umamaheshwar Rao, Director, NIT Rourkela, along with other senior officials.

 Under this CSR initiative MCL will be funding for the hostel which will accommodate girl students, encouraging their pursuit of higher education, particularly in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics fields. Besides, the facility will also provide state-of-the-art amenities, including fire safety systems, LAN connectivity, CCTV, and rainwater harvesting.

MCL has been actively supporting educational infrastructure at NIT Rourkela with a total CSR contribution of Rs 93.77 Crores, including financial assistance for another 500-seater girls’ hostel and the Technology Business Incubator (TBI).
