Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL), an entity of state-run Coal India Limited (CIL), has crossed the 100 million tonnes (MT) mark in coal production in the first seven months of the financial year.
According to CIL data for production performance released Tuesday, MCL has produced 103.5 MT of coal during April to October period as against 85.4 MT recorded during the corresponding period of previous fiscal, registering a growth of 21.1 per cent. The 100 MT output mile stone is learnt to have been achieved in a record seven months period.
The company has crossed the 100 million tonne coal production milestone in a record 281 days during current financial year 2015-16. Normally, the figure is achieved by the month of January or nineth-tenth month of the fiscal.
The Sambalpur-headquartered company had produced 168.2 MT of coal during the financial year 2021-22, recording a growth of 13.6 per cent over the previous year. It also emerged as the highest coal producing subsidiary of the CIL.
With a growth of over 15 per cent in coal production, 21 per cent in despatch and 18 per cent in OBR, MCL is poised to achieve new records during the current financial year. The company has set a target of 176 MT coal production for the current fiscal.
