Vishnu Deo Sai inaugurates three-day Mainpat Festival, announces Rs 1 crore for tourism development

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Friday inaugurated the three-day Mainpat Festival organised in Mainpat of Surguja district.
On the occasion, he extended greetings and best wishes to all on the festival.
During the event, the Chief Minister announced Rs 1 crore for tourism development in Mainpat and also declared the construction of a fully equipped bus stand in Sitapur. He dedicated and laid the foundation for 109 development works around Rs 523.20 crore in Surguja district.
Addressing the gathering, he said the festival is an important platform to showcase Surguja’s culture and identity, and will introduce the region’s traditions to the country and the world. It will also provide a stage for local as well as visiting artists to display their talent.
He said Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s guiding mantra is Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas, and the state government is committed to building a developed Chhattisgarh in line with the vision of a developed India. Under the Mahtari Vandan Yojana, more than 70 lakh women are receiving Rs 1,000 every month, with over Rs 15,000 crore already transferred to their accounts. He added that due to the strong resolve of the Prime Minister and the Union Home Minister, the region is steadily becoming free from Naxalism, and he saluted the courage of the state’s security personnel.
The Chief Minister was accorded a warm welcome by Tibetan community members with the traditional “Tashi Shopa” dance. He also visited departmental stalls and distributed beneficiary-oriented materials under various public welfare schemes. Cultural performances were presented by local artists on the occasion.
Tourism Minister Rajesh Agrawal said tourism in the state is witnessing continuous growth under the leadership of the Chief Minister. The government is working seriously towards comprehensive development of tourist destinations, strengthening infrastructure, and creating new opportunities. He added that increasing tourist footfall at scenic places like Mainpat is generating self-employment opportunities for local youth and women.
MLA Ram Kumar Toppo said the day marks not just the beginning of a festival but a celebration of the region’s rich culture, traditions, and love for nature. He described the Mainpat Festival as a celebration of public pride, where nature has adorned the land with extraordinary beauty.
MLA Prabodh Minj said that development works worth more than Rs 500 crore have been given for the region on the occasion, which will expand basic facilities in Mainpat and accelerate tourism activities.
Development boost worth over Rs 523 crore for Surguja
During the Mainpat Festival, the Chief Minister inaugurated and laid foundation stones for a total of 109 development works worth Rs 523 crore 20 lakh 53 thousand. This includes foundation laying for 81 works worth around Rs 429.11 crore and inauguration of 28 works estimated around Rs 94.09 crore.
