Maoists attack on Monnet plant in Chhattisgarh

A small group of Maoists attacked the mining facility of Monnet Ispat and Energy Limited located in Kanker district of Chhattisgarh and attacked a person engaged in the dispatch work.

The company operates an iron ore mine in Durgukondal development block of Kanker district. According to reports, three armed Maoists struck at the mining facility on Monday morning and fired at Nohar Singh Tulavi.

The victim is the former village sarpanch and has been engaged in the transportation of minerals from the mines. He had reached the facility for loading trucks when the incident took place.

The attackers first fired at Nohar after clutching him when he tried to escape. After taking control, the rebels pumped bullets on Nohar from close range. They also hit his head with a boulder before fleeing the spot.

The incident unleashed a reign of terror in the mining facility of Monnet Ispat. Nohar was shifted to Durgukondal Community Health Center by the people working in the mines. His condition is reported to be critical and doctors are planning to refer him for better medical treatment.
