Maoists unleased a reign of terror in Jharkhand’s Giridih district and blew up a bridge by detonating explosive Saturday night.
Earlier, the rebels had damaged a mobile tower in the area. According to reports, Maoists blew up the bridge built on Barakar river that was constructed under the Mukhyamantri Gram Setu Yojna at Sindwaria-Baragarha Ghat and Lurango Ghat under Dumri police station area of Giridih district in Jharkhand last night. The incident had disrupted the road communication in the region.
The Maoists had fixed posters in the area that had created an atmosphere of panic among the villagers. The Maoist violence continues in Giridih district of Jharkhand. The rebels also created a ruckus on Saturday, the second day of the Resistance Day being observed in protest against the arrest of Prashant Bose and his wife Sheela Marandi.
Bose, carrying a reward of Rs 1 crore, was the brain of Left-wing extremism and the senior most leader in the cadre. His arrest was a big catch for the security agencies.
Police said about two dozen insurgents were involved in the incident that took place at 2.30 pm Saturday night.
