Jagdalpur, August 21
Suspected extremists of Communist Party of India (Maoist) killed a former member of the cadre in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh.
The victim has been identified as Baman Poyam, who had earlier worked as militia member of the outlawed organization. Three months ago, Baman decided to return to the mainstream of the society and surrendered before the Bijapur police.
According to police sources, his body was discovered on the Pondum road under Bhairamgarh police station today morning. The police have received evidence that he was stabbed after being tied up. However, the Maoists have not claimed that they had committed the crime as the police did not get any pamphlet or document from the spot.
The officials suspect that the Maoists had killed Baman for leaving the organization and joining the mainstream of society.
