Maoists kill journalist’s brother in Chhattisgarh

The activists of outlawed Communist Party of India (Maoist) killed a person and later cremated his body in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district.

The victim has been identified as Basant Jhadi, who was the brother of a local journalist. He was working as technician with the state-run Chhattisgarh Renewable Energy Development Authority (CREDA).

According to police sources, Basant was abducted from his village on Friday night and was killed on the night of Diwali. The Maoists organized a kangaroo court and sentenced him to death for allegedly working as a police informer. The incident took place in Kottapalli village on the Chhattisgarh-Telangana border.

Basant was brutally done to death by the Maoists. The rebels later cremated his body.

The senior police officials could not be contacted for a version of the incident.
