The security forces have discovered serial improvised explosive devices (IEDs) planted by Maoists in two major project areas in Chhattisgarh’s Dantewada and Narayanpur district.

According to police sources, the security personnel received major success by timely detecting four IEDs planted by the rebels at the Kirandul iron ore mining area in Dantewada district. The landmines were planted to target the security forces conducting operations in the area.

Soon after receiving the information, the bomb disposal squad (BDS) reached the spot and defused the IEDs on the spot.

In another incident, Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) jawans destroyed an IED planted by Maoists in Antagarh under Narayanpur district. Sources said a 3 kg pressure cooker bomb was planted by the rebels in the under-construction railway bridge that is being executed under the ambitious Rowghat Railway Project.

The IED was planted near the village Kosaronda. The Maoists had planted the landmine to damage the railway line as they had been opposing the Rowghat project that was going to change the socio-economic condition of people in the otherwise underdeveloped pocket.

The officials said the SSB jawans foiled the plan of rebels and defused the IED after discovering it during patrolling in the area.
